Taca Airlines
I'm thrilled to announce that I've finally made contact with the manager of the Los Angeles Taca/Lacsa Airlines offices. I explained what I'm doing....coordinating US patients for Dr. Lev in Costa Rica, bringing or sending between 50 and 60 people a year down there. I told her I'd like for her to do something "special" for anyone who calls and says they are going to C.R. with one of "Didi's groups". She agreed to do the followiing.
- Give "Didi's people" an additional discount over and above the internet listed price. If there's a special going on on the internet, that would be the price you would get from the office as well. But if there isn't a special, they'll give you an additional discount.
- If you buy a Coach ticket, and it's available, they will upgrade you for free into Business Class for ONE WAY ONLY. If I were you I would choose to go Business Class on your return flight when you are still feeling the effects of your surgery and need a little more space to breathe.
- If you need to stay in Costa Rica a little longer and need to change your return flight, they will waive any change fees (usually $100 ) if you contact their office and/or fax them your name, ticket number, record locator number and a note from Dr. Lev saying you need to stay longer for medical reasons. In your cover note in your fax, you must include a little note stating that you are a person travelling in one of "Didi's groups". Please remember that they will waive the change fee ONLY if you extend your stay with a doctor's note saying you need to stay longer for medical reasons. They won't waive the fee if you shorten your stay. The staff at the Villa Plenitud can help you with the fax for a small fee (better than paying that extra $100). - If any patient of Dr. Lev's cannot travel to Costa Rica due to a medical issue, if you fax the Van Nuys office your ticket number, record locator number, your name and a doctor's note stating you are unable to have surgery, they will refund any unused roundtrip ticket with the entire amount being credited back to the original credit card used to purchase the tickets after a six week period. They will waive the normal refund fee of $100 and refund the entire value of the ticket back to your card. But remember to mention that you are a patient from Didi's group.

If you simply cannot get through by phone, drop one of the following people an email asking them to call you and give them your phone number. You may want to tell them when you are wanting to travel down to San Jose, Costa Rica and when you plan to return. Someone should call or email you back within a day or two (I hope!)
