Here is an approximate estimate of what a facelift, including eyes, face and neck would cost with everything (2008 prices)
Surgeon/Anesthesiologist's fee ------------------- $3300*
Hospital----------------------------------------------- approx. $3000**
Private Duty Eng. Speak. Nurse --------------------$ 150
Recovery Retreat (15 nights @ $110 per night) -$1650
Airfare from most cities in the U.S.A. ------------ approx. $500
Total Costs for facelift (all inclusive) -----------approx. $8600***
*deduct $600 from surgeon's fee if you're only having lower face and neck (no eyes, no browlift) *add $700 to surgeon's fee if you're adding a browlift (with face, neck and eyes)
** Hospital charges vary according to length of time in the O.R. The longer your procedure, the higher the hospital bill. For a complete facelift including browlift, eyes, face and neck, the bill can be as high as $2500-$2700.
*** deduct the airfare est. cost of $600 if you are using points or mileage to fly to Costa Rica.
Please note that these are just estimates, as the hospital charges and airfares can vary in either direction depending on how long your surgery takes or whether or not you are flying to Costa Rica during the high or low season. Also, you can opt for a larger room at the recovery retreat which would be $120 per night instead of $110 a night, bringing the total recovery retreat cost to $1800 instead of $1650 for a fifteen night stay.
I've seen the airfare from Los Angeles to San Jose, Costa Rica go from $400 to $700 for a roundtrip coach ticket. It all depends on when you go and what, if any, deals the airlines are offering at the time you make your reservation. I recommend Taca Airlines (the Van Nuys, California office) for the best deals and a free upgrade to Business Class one way (only if you mention that you are going to Costa Rica with a "Didi group" and only if you go through the Taca Van Nuys, California office.)
If you have more than one surgery and go into the hospital two times in one trip...you must pay again for the doctors and for the hospital and private duty nurse. You would save on airfare, of course, but you'd have to stay longer than two weeks total so that would cost a little more for the recovery facility as well. You must stay two weeks after your last surgery....and there needs to be at least four to six days between surgeries.
