Wonderful Permanent Makeup Artist
Ana Beatriz Brenes has just joined our team in Costa Rica. She is a permanent makeup artist ("Micropigmentation" is the official name for this procedure) and last August I had her do my eyebrows, eyelids and lips. She did an awesome job on me and I recommend her now to Dr. Lev's patients. She charges $250 for brows, $250 for eyeliner and $250 for lips. Beatriz does the permanent makeup tattooing at Dra.Telma Rubinstein's dental offices. As an extra offer, Dra. Rubinstein will numb your lip area with novacaine just before your lip tattoo, which she did for me...and I didn't feel a thing! She only charges an extra $50 for the novacaine injections around the lips. It's wonderful....especially for "babies" with absolutely zero tolerance for pain...like me!
Around the eyes and eyebrows, Beatriz uses a special numbing ointment that works very well. She applies it as she goes. It's not as painless as the numbing shots around the lips (which really deadened the area around the lips completely) but it definitely takes a great deal of the edge off the pain.
If you are interested in doing any or all of the above permanent makeup procedures, just let me know that you would like an appointment with Beatriz and I will arrange everything for you for the day you arrive in Costa Rica. Then the day before you leave for home, two weeks later, you will go back in for your touch up visit with Beatriz. The touchup session is very important because most of the time after the scabbing comes off there are spots left where the pigment did not take. In this picture of Didi...you'll notice that her right eyebrow is still lighter than her left eyebrow. Notice it? Well, that's after two sessions. In other words...she still needs one more session to even out the brows so they match better. Please do not make an appointment with Ana Beatriz unless you are sure you can go back two weeks later (no sooner..there MUST be at least two weeks between session one and session two).
If you'd like, you could also see Dra. Rubinstein the dentist, while you are there, either for a checkup, a teeth whitening or just a cleaning. So let me know and I can set all that up for you. You'll already be at the dentist's office for the tattooing, so it may behoove you to also use that time for a nice teeth cleaning or whatever.
Just email me at trlwd@aol.com and I'll be happy as a clam to set up any of the above for you.
Please note: If you have a tendency to get cold sores, it is recommended that you take a course of a drug called Zyvorex before your session with Beatriz. You'll need to get a prescription from your doctor before you come down to Costa Rica. It's a five day course, two pills a day beginning the day or two before your permanent makeup session. I don't get cold sores and decided to take the Zyvorex anyway preventatively. I figured it couldn't hurt to protect myself "just in case". Also, there's a Zyvorex cream which I also got a prescription for, and applied it to my newly tattooed lips every day for a week or so after the treatment. Again...."just in case".
Oh, by the way...after the tattooing, there will be a light scabbing that forms on the areas that were done. You must not peel the scabbing off, but let it come off naturally over the next two weeks. It's difficult not to "help it along" believe me....but if you take the scabbing off prematurely, you also interrupt the pigmentation process.
Pura Vida!
